Our Successes!

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates
  • Globally, at least 1 billion people have a near or distance vision impairment that could have been prevented or has yet to be addressed.

  • The leading causes of vision impairment and blindness are uncorrected refractive errors and cataracts.

  • In terms of regional differences, the prevalence of distance vision impairment in low- and middle-income regions is estimated to be four times higher than in high-income regions

"Sometimes if you want to see a change for the better, you have to take things into your own hands."

The ICF was successfully able to train surgeons in India in complex ophthalmic surgeries and establish a more accessible eye bank. By sharing our skills and expertise we empower these doctors to go back to serve and lift up their communities. Many in the community were living with preventable blindness, and were able to see again due to our efforts.
